American Indian Christian Mission

AICM is located in Linden, Arizona, just eight miles from Show Low and is one of the missions that SOTH proudly supports.  Their purpose is to help Native Americans know God and to bring them into a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.  They accomplish this by providing a quality Christian education at their boarding school and through their Blue Bus ministry.  On July 11 from 10am-12 noon, they are celebrating their 30th anniversary, offering tours, activities and a free lunch.  If you are traveling to the White Mountains this summer, stop and see them, either on July 11 or any other time.  You can visit their website at www.aicm.org

Feed My Starving Children (FMSC)

Feed My Starving Children (FMSC) is a Christian hunger relief organization that prepares life-saving meals for starving children in 70 countries world-wide. Volunteers are organized in teams of 7 or 8 members to fill and seal plastic bags of a food product consisting of rice, soy, dehydrated vegetables, and 20 vitamins and minerals. The food prepared by FMSC is distributed through a network of missionary partners with a 99.9% success rate of delivery. The packing sessions last about two hours, and the site is located at 7965 South Priest Drive, Suite 106, Tempe, AZ 85284, phone: (480) 626-1970. If you have any questions, please the church office at 480-837-9532. Last month our group completed packing cartons to feed 58 children for an entire year, totaling 21,837 individual servings that were shipped to the Philippines.

Please prayerfully consider volunteering to help with this very important ministry. You can sign up as individuals, families, or groups. Volunteer packers can go to the website www.fmsc.org to sign up. Shepherd of the Hills has secured the following dates for us to volunteer to help:

They began their mission experiences serving in a large clinic in a Cambodian Refugee camp in Thailand 1991-92. They then spent one year as missionaries in the former Saigon, Vietnam 1996-97 teaching in a large hospital sponsored by Evangelical Lutheran Church of America and supported by Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in Fountain Hills, AZ.   VLH was formed in 1998 leading teams of over 110 laypersons and medical professionals to Vietnam, seven medical teams to the Navajo Lutheran Mission, Rock Point, AZ and a team of 13 to Biloxi, MS for Katrina recovery efforts

Vital Links supported health and dental care outreach projects at three orphanages in Vietnam for  9 years caring for over 400 orphans, handicapped, elderly and staff.  Last year one mission outreach served over 700 visiting hill tribe people. Outreach was developed with grants from Wheat Ridge Ministries and are now maintained through a grant from Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, Fountain Hills, AZ and donations from other churches and individuals.

Summer teams go to Vietnam each year teaching at hospitals and the Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine.  Teams have provided donations of medical equipment for many hospitals including the Neonatal ICU at Pediatric Hospital #1.  These teams also visit our orphanage, joining our missionary, Dr Hang’s team on outreach clinics and teaching English/ Bible study. Volunteers are welcomed to serve on teams.  All have gifts to share.

VLH has facilitated month long visits of 40 medical students and specialty residents from around the world at hospitals in Ho Chi Minh City receiving elective credit at their university.  Fifteen healthcare professionals and teachers from Vietnam have been sponsored for special training in the USA to return to their country to teach others.
