Hospitality for Foreign Students
Did you know that there are nearly 1 million international students studying in the United States?  Unfortunately, 80% are never invited to an American home.  And they may experience isolation, homesickness and culture shock.  It could really make a difference if someone would reach out to them with hospitality and friendship.  Better yet, what if some of these students could return to their homelands not only with an education, but as ambassadors for Christ?  If you are interested in extending a welcome to international students, please attend an orientation presentation by Renee Roelants, a local leader for International Students, Inc.   Her presentation will be on Sunday, February 25, beginning at 11:45 am in the Education Building or Fellowship Hall.  A light lunch will be served.

Women's Friday Bible Study
Join us in the church parlor at 9:00 am on Friday mornings as we study the book Growing Older and Wiser.  Who wants to get older?   After age 25+, most of us dread those relentlessly accumulating birthdays.  However, it is important to keep a positive, even humorous, perspective on aging, because God designed our bodies to age.  The Bible is an inexhaustible mine of wisdom, and no matter our age we will grow wiser as we consider and apply the timeless truths of Scripture.  We can also add deeper knowledge and insights on marriage and family, interpersonal relationships and the importance of love.  God has made us for Himself, and mere physical survival is not our highest goal.  No matter how many years we accumulate on this earth, we are offered His gift of eternal life in Christ.  The cost of the books cost $5.00.
Share Your Gifts
If you haven't yet submitted the pink "Opportunity for Ministry" form, copies can be found on the Usher's table.  Please take time to let us know where we can use your talents in our church ministry. Place the form in the collection plate or return it to the church office.
Food for Kidz
The 8th Annual Fountain Hills Community Food Pack will take place on Thursday, March 15, 5:30-7:30 pm at the Fountain Hills Community Center.  In the past, about 300 volunteers have packed more than 300,000 nutritional meals that have been distributed to refugees, disaster victims, and other low-income households.  Also, 75% of the meals packed stay in Arizona and are distributed through groups that feed the hungry.  For more information email fhfoodpack@njlc-fh.org.
WOW
WOW Wednesdays
Our Word on Wednesday (WOW Kids) program for children ages 3 years through 8th grade is held on
Wednesday evenings, from 5:00-6:30 pm.

The program is similar to Fall Break Adventures.  Kids have an awesome time singing songs, eating dinner together, learning Bible stories, creating crafts, and just having fun.  So kids, grab your friends and come have fun experiencing God's love through friendships.  There is no cost for this program.
SOTH LEGACY & BEQUEST
The Board of Directors for the Shepherd of the Hills Foundation has voted to merge with Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church rather than continue as a separate corporation.  Reasons for doing this are several. First there has been confusion by some members of the church as to the relationship between the Foundation and the Church.
There are people who would like to give a Legacy gift as part of their will, but may be unsure if the monies given are truly going to be part of Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran church.  A second reason is to simplify the financial process.  Merging eliminates the need to have a separate bank account and separate bookkeeping system.  This also provides one complete record of monies donated by each person.  The Foundation work will now be performed by a Legacy and Bequest committee as part the normal church operation. Monies from the Foundation are now shown as a restricted liability account on the church balance sheet.  This is similar to the arrangement that is used for the mission committee, prayer garden columbarium committee, etc.  Investments will continue to be made in Thrivent mutual funds.  With this notice, we are asking that anyone who has designated Shepherd of the Hills Foundation in their wills, life insurance policies, IRA's etc. to please change the documents to designate Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church for any legacy gifts.  If you have any questions, please contact Denny Tam.
Power of Prayer
Please pray for comfort and healing for those who are sick, recovering from surgery, the  lonely, suffering from addiction, mental health problems, or need love or encouragement.
Heavenly Father, please shine your light upon families. Give them strength and wisdom to overcome all of the difficulties they face each day.

Please pray for strength and safety for those persecuted Christians around the globe.  Heal the physical and emotional scars that the young and old alike suffer for the sake of Jesus Christ.

Heavenly Father, we pray that Your Holy Spirit will turn the hearts of students across the country toward You.  Protect our staff and students each day.  Create an atmosphere of learning, providing the teachers wisdom and knowledge.

All praise to You, Lord Jesus, lover of children:   Bless our family, and help us to lead our children to you.  Give us light and strength, and courage when our task is difficult.  Let your Spirit fill us with love and peace, so that we may help our children to love you. All glory and praise are yours, Lord Jesus, forever and ever.  Amen.

"Is anyone among you sick? Let them call the elders of the church to pray over them and anoint them with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise them up.."                                               James 5:14-15

Blessings,
