The seventh annual Fountain Hills National Day of Prayer gathering will be Thursday, May 3, at Fountain Park amphitheater.
The NDOP theme is “Pray for America – UNITY”, emphasizing the need for people, together and individually, to place their faith in the unfailing character of their Creator, who is sovereign over all governments, authorities and men.
This year is the 68th annual NDOP program. The National Day of Prayer was created in 1952 by a joint resolution of Congress, and signed into law by President Harry S. Truman.
In 1988, the law was amended and signed into law by President Ronald Reagan, designating the first Thursday in May as a day of national prayer. Every president since 1952 has signed a National Day of Prayer proclamation.
The Bible scripture for 2018 is Ephesians 4:3 “Making every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of Peace.“
The event will begin at 6:30 p.m.
Complimentary food from 5:30 pm to 6:15 p.m. will include hot dogs, beverages, and desserts.
Fountain Hills Christian Ministerial Association is sponsoring the program. Representatives from churches in the community are organizing the event.
