SUMMARY:Christ Connect Class: Jesus Our Lord and Friend
DESCRIPTION:Series: The Jesus You Want to Know \nChristians know what Jesus Christ has done—but who is he? SUMMARY:Let's Celebrate America's 250th Birthday!
DESCRIPTION:Let’s Celebrate America’s 250th Birthday! \nOn Sunday\, July 5\, we’ll trade our usual Christ Connect Class for a church-wide picnic celebrating the USA’s Semiquincentennial (that’s a fancy word for a 250th birthday!). \nThe church will provide freshly grilled hot dogs and fried chicken\, and our First Sunday hosts—Diane Abfall\, Donna Hawkinson\, and Pat Flug—will keep the beverages flowing. \nBring your favorite side dish or dessert to share\, then settle in for good food\, fellowship\, and some friendly games. Whether you’d rather stay cool inside the Fellowship Hall or enjoy the Arizona summer under The Abbey\, there will be plenty of room to celebrate together. \nCome hungry\, bring a friend\, and let’s give America a birthday party worthy of 250 years! 🎂

SUMMARY:Christ Connect Class: Little Things Make a Big Difference
DESCRIPTION:The Art of Neighboring \nWhat comes to mind when you think about your neighbors? Maybe you don’t know them very well or\, if you’re honest\, maybe you think the lady across the street is a bit weird. For many of us\, it can be tempting to keep our distance and mind our own business in our neighborhood. But is that really how God wants us to live? \nAs followers of Jesus\, we’ve been called to love both God and our neighbors. It’s easier said than done\, but if we push past the fear\, time barriers\, and pride that can keep us from engaging with others\, we can build deep connections with the people in our neighborhood and\, most importantly\, please God. \nIn this four-session series based on their book The Art of Neighboring\, Jay Pathak and Dave Runyon help us focus on the people within our neighborhood and learn what it means to be a good neighbor. They discuss the importance of pushing through the uncomfortable feelings that come with communicating\, investing in\, and caring for the people who live near us. What would our communities look like if we took Jesus’s command to love our neighbors as ourselves seriously? \nClass Schedule: \nAUGUST 9\nRediscovering the Art of Neighboring\nLittle Things Make a Big Difference \nAUGUST 16\nThe Time Barrier\nMargin is Key to Being a Good Neighbor \nAUGUST 23\nOvercoming Fear\nNeighboring Can Be Both Messy & Powerful \nAUGUST 30\nThe Art of Receiving\nReciprocal Relationships Go Both Ways
