Christ Connect Class: Loving the Lord with Your Heart, Soul, Body, & Mind

November 9 @ 10:45 am - 11:30 am

According to the Westminster Catechism the purpose of being human is to glorify God and enjoy Him forever. That is a wonderful statement that incorporates our whole being.

Jesus said the greatest commandment is to love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, mind and strength and to love your neighbor as yourself. (Mark 12:30-31) Loving God does not only involve belief and putting your faith in Jesus, love involves giving our whole being.

This original Christ Connect series focuses on how we can do that over the next 5 weeks. Each week we will explore the holistic connection between the mind, body, and spirit. What does the Bible say about bad thoughts? How can we renew our souls through glorifying God in worship? How can we be better stewards of our bodies? What the Bible says about your health and physical healing? Does the Bible give us an original plan for our health and well-being? Come explore these questions with topic experts each Sunday October 25 to November 23.

Schedule:

October 26: Renewing Your Mind
Did you know your brain is lying to you 80% of the time? Pastor Jeff and Kris Teeples will teach on how to break the cycle of self-sabotoging and renewing your mind in Christ. Kris has her masters in counselling and is a LPC at Crossroads Christian Counseling.

November 2: Renewing your Heart and Soul—The Gift of Worship
In our worship services, are we givers or receivers? Does God’s Word prescribe an acceptable style of worship? What’s the difference between psalms, hymns and spiritual songs anyway? Together we’ll explore these and other questions and see what God has to say about worship. Led by Matt Hoehne, Minister of Music.

November 9: Glorifying God With Your Body
This class aims to bridge the gap between Biblical wisdom and modern science. It’s easy to separate our wellness, fitness, and illness from our spiritual life, but God cares about our bodies, and we want to further explore the Biblical truths and integrative knowledge about the holistic connection between the mind, body, and spirit. Whether you are struggling with chronic disease, chronic pain, or are just curious about Biblical health, this is for all! Drs. Philip and Carly Teeples (DPTs)* will lead this workshop.

November 16: Healthy Living for Longevity
Are you interested in learning how to live a longer, healthier and happier life? Our own Rachel Clausen, an integrative nutrition health coach, will lead a discussion on The Blue Zones (centenarians who live the longest and happiest lives) through The Power 9. Nine lifestyle habits to learn and implement with Rachel’s extra tips and tricks which will revolve around having connection, the right outlook, eating wisely and movement.

November 23: The Great Health Reset
From the beginning, God established an intentional design for human flourishing—what our class leaders call the Original Health Plan. Come explore this plan and the foundations of faith-based healing. Learn how to partner with God in your health and healing journey and restore whole person health through lifestyle pillars. We will cover bodily stewardship, Biblical food principles, Biblical healing principles, and learn to integrate daily lifestyle habits that empower your health and help you connect with God as you steward your body. Drs. Philip and Carly Teeples (DPTs) will lead this workshop.

*Carly and Philip are a husband-and-wife duo who founded Centered Physios. Their passion is sharing what they believe to be true health and healing. One of their life’s callings is to offer a perspective on integrative health (focused on the whole person) and healing through a Christ-centered lens. Their mission is to promote whole health, wellness, healing, and recovery—rooted in service to others and in partnership with the Great Healer. Philip is a Physical Therapist specializing in pain management at the VA Hospital and Carly is a full-time mom and practicing part-time as a PT with home health care.
